To receive Holy Communion, one must be a baptized Catholic, in a state of grace, with no mortal sin that has not been absolved by Confession.
A fast of at least one hour (no food or drink, except water and medicines) before receiving Holy Communion is required.
Modesty - Appropriate, clean attire that exemplifies Christian modesty, dignity and respect is required. Women should wear a dress or skirt that falls below the knee (no pants). Men should wear a collared shirt, long pants, preferably with a tie and jacket. Tight fitting, low cut, sleeveless and revealing clothing as well as T-shirts, shorts, and clothing with logos are not appropriate. Shoulders and chests should be covered.
It is customary for women to cover their heads when in the church. Veiling has always been seen by Catholic women as part of an edifying example of modesty and composure before the Blessed Sacrament. We are carrying forward the venerable tradition from those that came before us to those who come after us (see 1 Corinthians 11:2-16).Chapel veils can be borrowed in the vestibule.
Silence shows reverence and supports interior prayer. Silence should always be maintained when in the church.
If needed, we encourage parents with small children to use the lower level where closed circuit television viewing of the Holy Mass is available.
